One of the backer tiers for the Spellirium pre-order campaign gives you the ability to voice a character in the game. How will that work, exactly? Here’s the plan.
Characters in point-and-click graphic adventure games can have a LOT of dialogue. We’ll choose one character in Spellirium that has a manageable number of lines, and we’ll send you the script. All of our voice-over backers will receive the same script.
We will hire one “canonical” voice actor to voice the character. This is the voice that players will hear by default when they play the game. This is how we ensure that the quality of all voiced characters is consistent throughout the game.
You’ll record the lines that we send you in a standard audio format (mp3 or wav), and put the files in a Dropbox folder. We’ll implement your voice files to work with Spellirium.
In the Options screen, players will be able to choose your voice from a drop-down list of actors. Your voice will override the default voice actor, so that the player hears your voice instead! This is not for some special one-off copy of the game – your voice will be selectable by ALL players in the final commercial version of Spellirium! You will also receive a voice acting credit in the final game.
